In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Edwin Young on August 31, 2007.

Ed was an active member of NMCA and a former board member.  Edwin is survived by his wife, Margaret Bartholow, his children, grandchildren sister Dorothy Dressler plus numerous extended family and friends. Ed was a WWII Royal Canadian Navy volunteer, McGill University graduate, and rose to VP of Lord Electric in NYC, then the nation's largest electrical contractor, working closely with IBEW Local 3. He was a Democratic Party activist and later local AARP spokesperson, and proud member of the Heather and Thistle Society.

Ed's wisdom, candor and dedication to our neighborhood will be missed.  Our prayers are with Margaret and his family.

The North Montrose Civic Association is a non profit neighborhood association that for more than 25 years has promoted activism and social interaction through its civic minded volunteers with the purpose of improving our neighborhoods and overall quality of life.  While our neighborhood has undergone a radical transformation over the past 25 years, many of the issues we face today are still quite the same.  NMCA has been at the forefront of working with residents, businesses, elected officials and other organizations and institutions to provide a cohesive voice on those issues that affect our neighborhood.

While our neighborhood continues to change, so does our civic association.  We are excited about our new online newsletter as well as our revamped website.  Our hope is that these new interactive tools will allow us to keep you better informed of our upcoming meetings and events.  We also intend to have periodic socials during the year that will allow old and new friends to meet and get to know one another.

We welcome all of our new neighbors to join NMCA and encourage our existing members and old friends to renew their memberships.  It is an exciting time for NMCA and our neighbohood!  I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Sincerely,

Lance Jones
